COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Two principals who are being fired amid the Columbus schools attendance data-scrubbing investigation are suing to get their jobs back.
The Columbus Dispatch (https://bit.ly/PSQpL9 ) reports that Tiffany Chavers and Pamela Diggs on Wednesday sued the school board, former and current superintendents and other district administrators. They’re also asking for $400,000 each in damages.
Chavers, who was principal of Linden-McKinley STEM Academy, and Diggs, who was principal at Marion-Franklin High School, are two of the four principals suspended after an investigation showed a culture of changing attendance numbers to improve performance ratings, which can be used to determine government funding and employee bonuses.
The suit spells out Chavers’ and Diggs’ account of how they were directed to alter student data.
District officials had no immediate comment.
