CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - Law enforcement officials in Cheyenne are warning teens about the consequences of sending sexually explicit photos from their cell phones.

At a press conference Wednesday, the Wyoming Tribune Eagle (https://bit.ly/1ozrecb ) reported police said they’re investigating three cases of “sexting” involving about 20 teens from Cheyenne’s middle and high schools. Chief Brian Kozak said many sent explicit photos of themselves.

In Wyoming, it’s illegal to share sexually explicit images with minors, even if the photos are of the sender.

Teens who send such photos could be charged. Laramie County District Attorney Scott Homar says anyone convicted could be placed on a sex offender registry for the rest of their lives.

He says sexting has been occurring in Cheyenne and elsewhere for a while but the recent investigation showed it has become prevalent.
