JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - A new TV ad from U.S. Sen. Mark Begich’s campaign features the Alaska Democrat’s family, including images of his late father, Nick Begich.
The ad, narrated by Begich’s wife, Deborah Bonito, compares him to father, an Alaska congressman who disappeared while traveling by plane in the state in 1972. Mark Begich was still a boy at that time.
Bonito says Begich is “clearly his father’s son” and that there’s “nowhere he won’t go to listen and stand up for Alaskans.”
Begich is seeking re-election this year in a seat that Republicans have targeted in their effort to reclaim control of the U.S. Senate.
