Panhandle mother charged with death of newborn

FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A Panhandle woman faces charges in the death of her newborn daughter.

Officials tell The Northwest Florida Daily News (https://bit.ly/1dQzyNM ) the woman faces charges of first-degree non-premeditated murder and aggravated child abuse. Investigators say the woman left the 7-pound newborn in a white garbage bag outside her home after giving birth.

Emergency workers tried but failed to revive the infant.
