NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (AP) - A 66-year-old man is recovering after he suffered a heart attack during a Heart Association fundraising run and was revived by state police and an emergency worker who was participating in the event.
State police say an unidentified emergency medical technician stopped and began resuscitation efforts on 66-year-old Michael Wofford after Wofford collapsed during America’s Greatest Heart Run and Walk Saturday near Utica.
Another walker alerted two troopers who were working a nearby traffic post. Trooper Daniel Krajewski used an automated external defibrillator from his patrol car while Trooper Adam Ferstand called an ambulance.
State police say Wofford, of Glenfield in Lewis County, was walking when he collapsed. He’s in intensive care at a hospital.
