COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Fire officials say a house fire in Columbus has claimed the life of an infant.
The Columbus Dispatch (https://bit.ly/1ohUrGq ) reports that the 6-week-old girl was killed in a fire Sunday that sent her parents to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Battalion Chief Doug Belcher says that the baby was in a bedroom of the home when the blaze broke out. A neighbor says that the baby’s father couldn’t get to the child because of heavy smoke and that neighbors that tried to rush in were also unable to get upstairs.
Belcher says that the man had burns on his arms and that the fire is being investigated. The victims’ identities weren’t immediately released.
