RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Another winter storm is bearing down on Virginia.
Winter storm warnings are in effect for most of the state on Monday.
The National Weather Service says some areas could receive up to a foot of snow, including Leesburg, Front Royal, Warrenton, Staunton, Waynesboro and Harrisonburg.
Snow accumulations in other areas range from 3 inches to 8 inches.
The storm is expected to begin either late Sunday or early Monday as freezing rain, followed by sleet and then snow.
Since the storm is expected to begin as rain, the Virginia Department of Transportation says it won’t pre-treat roads. The department says pre-treatment wouldn’t be effective because the rain would wash the brine off the roads.
The department is advising motorists to delay travel if possible.
