LAS VEGAS (AP) - A former Las Vegas real estate broker has been released from a federal prison camp in Southern California while she appeals her conviction in a massive mortgage fraud scheme.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1pcdUZF) Eve Mazzarella was granted freedom last month by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. The court says her lawyers raised issues that could result in her conviction being overturned.

The newspaper reports the 36-year-old Mazzarella is living with her father in San Diego and working at his law firm.

She and her ex-husband, 51-year-old Steven Grimm, were convicted in 2011 of a scheme that lost banks more than $52 million over five years.

Grimm was sentenced to 25 years in prison, while Mazzarella was sentenced to 14 years behind bars.
