CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Joshua Dudley paced a balanced scoring attack for Washington with 18 points and 4 rebounds in an 81-61 win over Morgantown in the boy’s Class AAA quarterfinals Wednesday. Morgantown took an early 4-3 lead over Washington only to watch the Patriots explode on a 20-4 run sparked by two 3-point baskets by Dominique Newman.

Washington distributed the ball offensively in the first half as all five starters aided in the 43-20 halftime mark as the Patriots converted 16 Mohigans turnovers into 23 points. Washington had 16 assists on 28 made baskets.

Washington saw its largest lead of 27 points at the end of the third quarter after Newman connected on his third triple of the game.

Kendall Smith netted 15 points and 16 rebounds while Edward Jones added 11 points and 8 rebounds in the win for top-seeded Washington (25-0). Steven Solomon scored 11 points in the loss for eighth-seeded Morgantown (15-11). No other players finished in double-figures for the Mohigans.

Washington advances to the semifinals Friday where it awaits the winner of George Washington and Huntington. Washington fell in the semifinals round last season.
