CHICAGO (AP) - The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library Foundation is set to honor Oscar-winning filmmaker Steven Spielberg.
The foundation is scheduled to award the Lincoln Leadership Prize on Wednesday evening in Chicago.
Spielberg directed the Academy Award-winning movie “Lincoln.”
Sally Field, who portrayed Mary Todd Lincoln, will present the award.
The foundation says the prize is given to those with character, conscience and a commitment to democracy and service.
Foundation directors say they’re honoring Spielberg for his accomplishments in film and philanthropy.
Previous recipients include former President Bill Clinton, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor.
“Lincoln” won two Academy Awards, including best actor for Daniel Day-Lewis’ portrayal of the president and for best production design.
The film focused on Lincoln’s efforts to pass a constitutional amendment outlawing slavery.
