RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - The Richmond Ballet is planning to head to China in May 2015.
Gov. Terry McAuliffe announced Wednesday that the Richmond Ballet has accepted an invitation to perform at the 15th Annual ’Meet in Beijing’ Arts Festival in Beijing.
Officials say it will mark the group’s first journey to Asia. Its Road to China initiative also will include a series of cultural exchange programs that will celebrate Chinese culture in the U.S. during the 2014-15 season.
McAuliffe says China already is the largest customer of Virginia’s agricultural and forestry products and one of the state’s largest trade partners.
He says the Richmond Ballet’s initiative provides an opportunity to continue an open and collaborative dialogue that could set the stage for future partnerships.
