NEW YORK (AP) - Former NFL player Troy Vincent has been promoted to executive vice president of football operations for the league.

Commissioner Roger Goodell also appointed Dave Gardi to senior vice president of football operations.

The moves were announced Wednesday.

Vincent, a cornerback, was a first-round draft choice in 1992 and played 15 seasons for the Dolphins, Eagles, Bills and Redskins. He was president of the players’ union from 2004-08, and was hired by the league office in 2010.
