No fish were injured in the making of this video: That’s the message one patron at a Downtown Disney cafe in Florida wanted to convey, after she caught on tape the quick-thinking actions of workers who responded to a sudden fish tank explosion.
Employees of the dinosaur-themed T-Rex Cafe rushed to get patrons out of the way and save the fish, said Kate Wallace, who captured the incident on video and explained what she saw to CNN affiliate Bay News 9.
Water flooded the restaurant — but all the fish were ultimately saved, said one restaurant executive, to CNN.
“A seal failed on the tank causing water to leak,” said Keith Beitler, a senior vice president of Landry’s specialty restaurants division, the company that owns and operates T-Rex Cafe.
He went on, in his statement: “Employees took action and did a great job rescuing all of the marine life, caring for our guests and managing the situation. The marine life has been moved to holding tanks, and the restaurant is open for business as usual.”
Downtown Disney is a complex located just outside the Disney theme parks in Orlando.
