LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - One person is dead in a fiery crash on Interstate 440 in Little Rock and traffic is tied up in both directions as responders work to clear the scene.

Arkansas State Police say the crash occurred at about 2 p.m. when a car was backing up westbound in the eastbound lanes.

A big rig hit the car from behind, jackknifed and was struck by a second tractor-trailer.

State police say two people have been taken to a hospital. The dead person and those injured haven’t been identified.

One westbound lane has reopened to traffic, which is moving slowly. State police say they don’t know when eastbound I-440 will reopen.

Eastbound vehicles from Interstate 30 and Interstate 530 are being diverted through downtown Little Rock along I-30.
