LOS ANGELES (AP) - Los Angeles police say four children abducted from their grandmother’s house by their biological parents have been found safe near the U.S.-Mexico border in Southern California.

A statewide Amber Alert was canceled after the 7-year-old and 5-year-old boys and 1-year-old twin girls were found Tuesday, three days after they were taken.

Police say the children’s parents Enrique Felix and Rosa Chairez, both 28, remained at large and are believed to be in Mexico. Warrants have been issued for their arrest.

Authorities said the children had been in in protective custody with their grandmother because their father was physically abusive to them and their mother.

Police say the kids were found by U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents Tuesday morning and LAPD detectives would return them to Los Angeles.
