SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - A woman held on allegations that she killed three women in 1990 in Spokane has had her bail set at $1 million.
The Spokesman-Review reports (https://is.gd/kerDRb) that bail for Donna Perry was set in a brief court appearance Tuesday. She refused to come to court Monday.
Perry is accused of killing Yolanda Sapp, Nickie Lowe and Kathleen Brisbois in Spokane when she was living as Douglas Perry. Perry had a sex-change operation in 2000.
Perry was booked into jail last Friday. Defense lawyer Anna Nordtvedt told the court she had been unable to meet with her client previously because the woman was listed in county jail records as Douglas Perry and jailers said they didn’t have a Donna Perry.
Perry recently completed a sentence on a federal weapons charge.
Detectives say DNA links Perry to the slayings of the three prostitutes. Each was shot to death.
