PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Rhode Island Commerce Corp. board member Karl Wadensten won’t join the already crowded race for governor.

Wadensten said Tuesday during a taping of WPRI-TV’s “Dan Yorke State of Mind” he decided after “deep reflection” not to run. He had been considering it in recent months and said he was humbled by those who urged him to enter the race.

Wadensten is best known politically as the only economic agency board member to vote against the $75 million loan guarantee for ex-Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling’s 38 Studios.

He said he would continue to be a “voice for action, a voice for business and a voice for truth.” He also has launched an effort to help municipalities fix potholes.

Wadensten is president of VIBCO Vibrators, which makes industrial vibrators.
