EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Michigan State University President Lou Anna Simon is recommending that the Board of Trustees give interim provost June Pierce Youatt the job long-term.
Simon said Tuesday that she will ask trustees to appoint Youatt as executive vice president for academic affairs at their April 22 meeting. Youatt has been doing the job on an interim basis since January 2013.
The provost is the university’s chief academic officer.
Youatt earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary education at Michigan State in 1973. She earned a master’s degree in 1976 and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction in 1983, also from the school.
Youatt joined the faculty in 1983 and became a full professor before joining the provost’s office in 2002.
