Hercules has heard Bill Maher’s comments on God, and he’s hitting back.
While promoting his new movie “God’s Not Dead” with Newsmax, actor Kevin Sorbo weighed in on the HBO “Real Time” host’s latest commentary on God.
“All I can do is feel sad for the guy because I think he’s a very angry, lonely man,” Mr. Sorbo told “The Steve Malzberg Show” on Newsmax TV. “There’s no reason to try and talk to a guy like that because he has so much hate.”
Mr. Maher, while talking March 14 on his HBO show about upcoming Russell Crowe movie “Noah,” referred to God as a “psychotic mass murderer” who “drowns babies.”
“Hey God, you know you’re kind of a [expletive] when you’re in a movie with Russell Crowe and you’re the one with anger issues,” he said.
“I wonder what happened to him in his lifetime,” Mr. Sorbo told Newsmax. “The atheists I’ve met — not all of them are angry. I’ve got some very good friends who are atheists. They just don’t believe. They simply don’t believe. We’ve had great debates. … [Mr. Maher just] has so much hate.”

Mr. Sorbo is best known for portraying Hercules in the mid-1990s TV show “Hercules: The Legendary Journeys.” His latest movie, “God’s Not Dead,” in which he plays a college professor who tries to get his students to disavow the existence of God, will open in theaters March 21.
