WINOOSKI, Vt. (AP) - Striking bus drivers in Vermont’s largest county say they have a proposal and are ready to discuss it with the management of the Chittenden County Transportation Authority.
A number of the drivers and a Vermont Workers’ Center representative made the comments Tuesday to the Burlington Free Press (https://bfpne.ws/1gLOSfh ).
CCTA said it had not received the proposal by Tuesday evening but said it hopes it will be a compromise that would move both sides forward.
About 70 drivers went on strike Monday. Drivers say the main issues separating the two sides are working conditions, the length of split-shifts and discipline.
Burlington school officials say a small spike in absences among students on Monday disappeared and overall attendance was up Tuesday but the number of students who were late nearly doubled.
