SEATTLE (AP) - The state Department of Transportation says a 1.5 mile span of State Route 7 has been closed following a mudslide Monday.

The department reports the mudslide contained about 100 cubic yards of debris, hitting the state highway near 416th Street East.

While crews cleaned up the debris, department engineers are checking whether the hillside has stabilized before reopening the road. They will assess reopening the segment of the highway Tuesday morning.
