RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - The official start of spring is just days away, but much of South Dakota is in store for snow this week.
The National Weather Service has posted a winter storm warning for the Black Hills in the west Monday night and Tuesday. The system is expected to spread into the northeastern and east central parts of the state late Monday into Tuesday. A winter storm watch is posted for those regions.
Forecasters say up to a foot of snow could fall in the Black Hills, and the other regions could see as much as 8 inches. Winds gusting up to 40 mph could create visibility problems for motorists.
