PRAGUE (AP) - The Czech Republic is set to play a friendly against the United States as a warm-up for its qualifying campaign for the 2016 European Championship.
The Czech football federation said Monday the game will be played Sept. 3 in Prague as the team’s final game before opening qualifying against the Netherlands in Group A six days later.
Czech Republic coach Pavel Vrba says he chose to play the U.S. because of the team’s attacking style under coach Jurgen Klinsmann. Vrba said “we will be tested by an offensive opponent who wants to attack. We expect from them a similar style as the Netherlands.”
It will be the third match between the two teams. The Czechs won both previous encounters - 3-0 at the 2006 World Cup and 4-2 in a 2010 friendly.
