CHICAGO (AP) - A suburban Chicago woman is being held on $10 million bond for a high-speed chase that ended in a crash that killed an off-duty Chicago police officer.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports (https://bit.ly/1deWfv3 ) 31-year-old Shanell Terrell appeared in bond court Sunday.
She’s charged with first-degree murder for the death of 42-year-old David Harris, who died Friday after his car was struck by Terrell’s speeding van that went through a red light.
Authorities say the chase began early Friday in the suburb of Calumet Park when Terrell ran through a stop sign. The chase eventually reached speeds of 90 mph as the white van headed along the Dan Ryan Expressway before exiting on the city’s South Side.
A passenger in Terrell’s van is being held on $50,000 bond for a drug charge.
