MONROE, La. (AP) - Louisiana State Police have arrested a Monroe man accused of extorting a state representative after he reportedly threatened the lawmaker over support of marijuana law reform.
State police detectives arrested Roy Green Thursday based on emails he sent to the legislator. The victim’s name was not disclosed.
The News-Star reports (https://tnsne.ws/1gwKN28 ) the 31-year-old suspect was booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center. Bond information was unavailable Sunday. It was not known if he has an attorney.
State police spokesman Albert Paxton says Green said in an email if the lawmaker didn’t support marijuana law reform he “would personally see to it that your office and livelihood are placed into danger.”
During questioning, Green told investigators he didn’t remember sending an email but acknowledged posting the message on Facebook.
