CHICAGO (AP) - U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin plans to meet with members of Chicago’s Ukrainian community after a trip to the country.
Durbin was part of a congressional delegation that visited Ukraine. His office says he was to meet with government officials “to discuss the country’s current political situation and regional security issues.” Durbin also was to meet with U.S. embassy officials and democracy activists, among others.
Durbin has condemned Russia for sending military troops into the Crimean region of Ukraine. The senator is to visit the Ukrainian Cultural Center on Chicago’s West Side on Sunday afternoon.
