CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Nevada’s economic director has approved $4.3 million in transferrable film tax credits for the production of “Mall Cop: Blart 2” in Las Vegas.
Sony Pictures plans to shoot the sequel comedy film starring Kevin James and Raini Rodriguez at Wynn Resorts on the Las Vegas Strip.
Economic Development Director Steve Hill signed an order Friday approving the tax credits.
It’s the first movie to receive tax credits under a pilot program approved by the 2013 Legislature that backers say will bring jobs and elevate Nevada’s film industry.
In its application, Sony Pictures said the production will create 3,400 temporary jobs carrying a payroll of $7 million.
Total in-state spending was estimated at nearly $28 million out of an overall budget of $46 million.
