Police in Spain and Morocco have rooted out what they say is a jihadist recruitment cell and on Friday, arrested seven who were suspected of training militants to fight in Syria and other countries.
Spain’s Interior Ministry said three were arrested in Morocco and another three in Melilla, a Spanish-held territory along the north African coast, The Associated Press reported. The seventh was captured and detained in Spain.
One of the seven had reportedly just returned from a training session with groups linked to al Qaeda, AP reported.
The nationalities of the seven who were arrested aren’t yet known.
