President Obama took to “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” on Friday morning to fend off criticism about an obvious sore spot — his “mom” jeans.
“I’ve been unfairly maligned about my jeans,” the president said after Mr. Seacrest told him that he spoke with a Gap employee who helped Mr. Obama choose items for wife Michelle and daughters Malia and Sasha — and that she suggested that Mr. Obama could also stand a clothing update, the Washington Post reported.
“The truth is, generally I look very sharp in jeans,” Mr. Obama said. “There was one episode like four years ago in which I was wearing some loose jeans mainly because I was out on the pitcher’s mound, and I didn’t want to feel confined while I was pitching, and I think I’ve paid my penance for that. I got whacked pretty good. Since that time, my jeans fit very well.”
Apparently, the penance hasn’t ended.
Just a few weeks ago, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin ripped into Mr. Obama’s fashion sense, accusing him of wearing “mom jeans.”
