NASHUA, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire Sen. Kelly Ayotte will buy a “Nothing Can” to help boost awareness of the New Hampshire Food Bank’s fundraising campaign.

Ayotte will be at the Hannaford Supermarket on Coliseum Avenue in Nashua Friday at 1:30 to purchase a fundraising can.

The cans sell for $5, with the idea that purchasers will return them filled or donate the equivalent online. The cans symbolize the lack of food that 140,000 New Hampshire residents face daily.

Gov. Maggie Hassan helped kick off the campaign March 5. It runs until April 11.

The Citizens Bank Foundation has pledged $25,000 to match donations raised during the campaign.

Ayotte will meet at the market with Food Bank, Citizens Bank and Hannaford officials.
