LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The latest release of documents from the Bill Clinton administration include about 90 pages involving former Arkansas Lt. Gov. Bill Halter.
Halter worked in the Office of Management and Budget and later on as deputy commissioner of Social Security during Clinton’s presidency. Halter later served one term as Arkansas’ lieutenant governor and led the successful effort to legalize a state lottery.
The documents released Friday include a 1999 email from Thurgood Marshall Jr., son of Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall. The email suggested Halter as a candidate for a position in Vice President Al Gore’s office. Marshall’s email says Halter would be a “great addition” to the office.
The documents are among 4,000 pages released Friday by the National Archives.
