KENNEBUNK, Maine (AP) - Maine Gov. Paul LePage is ratcheting up the rhetoric on Medicaid expansion, describing it as “sinful.”
LePage made the remark in a visit to Kennebunk on Friday, a day after trading barbs with the Democratic leadership, saying they “don’t know what they’re doing” and “don’t care about Maine.”
House Speaker Mark Eves responded that “life-saving health care is not sinful.” He also said LePage’s “bad policies and erratic behavior,” not Democrats, were the problem.
The York County Coast Star (https://bit.ly/1fxh3Ok ) said LePage talked to workers at the local water district, a bank and an insurance company before a town hall meeting.
LePage described the debate over Medicaid expansion as a “legacy battle” over the Affordable Care Act. Asked if there’s hope, LePage responded, “The last hope is the November election.”
