CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - A jury in Cheyenne has decided that Nathaniel Castellanos should receive life in prison without parole.
The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports (https://bit.ly/1eCcPp1 ) that the jury rejected the death penalty Friday for Castellanos after hearing testimony this week in the penalty phase in his trial before District Judge Thomas Campbell.
The 34-year-old Castellanos was found guilty last week of first-degree murder in the deaths of 21-year-old Corey Walker and 25-year-old Megan McIntosh. The jury also found him guilty of attempted first-degree murder in the shooting of 26-year-old Amber McGuire, who was critically wounded but survived.
The shootings happened at Castellanos’ Cheyenne home in August 2011. He claimed an unknown assailant did the shooting.
Castellanos worked as a records and data management specialist with the Wyoming Department of Education before the shootings.
