BURR OAK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - A southwestern Michigan woman has been charged with open murder in the shooting death of a man following what authorities describe as a “domestic dispute.”

MLive.com reports Friday that the St. Joseph County prosecutor’s office charged 34-year-old Maria Williams in the slaying of 35-year-old Dennis Brooks.

The Sturgis Journal and WWMT-TV report Brooks’ body was found late Thursday along a rural road in Burr Oak Township. He had been shot once in the head.

Authorities say the suspect in the slaying called 911 and later led police to the shooting scene where she was arrested.
