Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, blamed the Koch brothers for influencing GOP lawmakers to delay Ukraine legislation, continuing his crusade against the billionaire brothers, The Hill reported Thursday.
Republicans have demanded that a delay of regulation by the IRS of non-profit political advocacy groups be included in the Ukraine legislation, which Mr. Reid suggested stems from their ties to the Koch brothers, the newspaper wrote. But conservative senators say they are only insisting on the change if changes to the International Monetary Fund are included in the bill.
“It’s hard for me to comprehend how with a clear conscience they could say, ‘Ukrainians, we probably can’t help you because we’re trying to protect the Koch brothers,’” Mr. Reid said Thursday, according to The Hill. “And not only that, they’re saying to the American people that protecting the Koch brothers is more important than helping our country.”
Mr. Reid has called out the billionaire brothers almost daily recently, calling them “un-American” late last month.
