ST. LOUIS (AP) - Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon is bringing his push for Medicaid expansion to St. Louis tonight.

Nixon and state Rep. Tommie Pierson are scheduled to host a community meeting at Greater St. Mark Family Church downtown at 6:30 p.m. State Budget Director Linda Luebbering is also scheduled to speak.

The Democratic governor wants Missouri accept more than $1.7 billion of federal money to expand Medicaid eligibility to about 300,000 lower-income adults under the federal health care law. Republican lawmakers in Jefferson City have consistently rejected that approach but propose other changes to Medicaid.
