PHOENIX (AP) - U.S. Sen. John McCain has introduced legislation aimed at extending congressional authorization of the Yuma Crossing National Heritage Area for another 15 years through 2030.

McCain calls the Yuma Crossing National Heritage Area “one of Arizona’s great treasures.”

First authorized in 2000, McCain says it has grown into a collaborative effort by local, tribal and federal partners, and has transformed the city of Yuma and helped restore the banks of the Colorado River.
