FORT JACKSON, S.C. (AP) - The Army’s largest training installation is losing 92 jobs to Fort Knox.
Fort Jackson spokesman Patrick Jones said Thursday there are 67 military and 25 civilian positions involved at the Army’s Recruiting and Retention School, which is moving by Oct. 1.
The Army announced earlier this week the school was moving from Fort Jackson to the post in central Kentucky in order to align it with its headquarters, the U.S. Army Recruiting Command.
The Army said the move will enhance the training of recruiters and better support the development of recruiting doctrine and curriculum.
Relocation will result in a yearly savings of $14 million and a projected savings of $138 million for the Army over a 10-year period.
