Colin Powell wants you to know he’s the ultimate hipster, taking selfies before they were cool.

The former secretary of state posted on Facebook a vintage snapshot of himself as a teenager.

He’s wearing a vest and holding a camera, taking a photo of his reflection in front of a dresser mirror in what looks like a very messy bedroom.

“Throwback Thursday - I was doing selfies 60 years before you Facebook folks. Eat your heart out Ellen!” Mr. Powell wrote Thursday morning.

He was speaking in reference to a selfie photo of Ellen and several top hollywood celebrities at the Oscars that broke the re-tweet record for Twitter.

The “Ellen Degeneres Show’s” Facebook account replied: “This is incredible. I like your camera. Did you have to wind it by hand, or did a brontosaurus on a hamster wheel do it?”

At the time of this report, Mr. Powell’s photo had gained nearly 42,000 likes and 10,500 shares.
