LENZERHEIDE, Switzerland (AP) - Didier Defago, the 2010 Olympic downhill champion, says he will return for one more season at the age of 37 and target the world championships in the United States.

Defago says the men’s medal races being staged at the Birds of Prey course he likes influenced his decision.

The twin resorts of Vail and Beaver Creek, Colorado, host the championships next Feb. 2-15.

Defago gave Switzerland its first men’s Alpine Olympic gold medal in 22 years when he won the Vancouver Games downhill.

In January, Defago earned his fifth career World Cup win by edging fellow 36-year-old Bode Miller in a super-G at Kitzbuehel, Austria.

Defago said at a news conference to announce his decision that the win proved he could still be fast.
