ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - The St. Paul City Council has approved a $1 million settlement between the city and the families of two boys killed and one boy injured in a landslide at Lilydale Regional Park last year.
The council approved the settlement Wednesday. The Star Tribune (https://strib.mn/1qxnXvO) reports council member Chris Tolbert, who led the meeting, called it a fair settlement.
The families of the children who died - Haysem Sani, 9, and Mohamed Fofana, 10 - would each get $400,000, while $200,000 would go to the family of Devin Meldahl, 10, who suffered skull, leg and rib fractures.
The three boys, all fourth-graders at Peter Hobart Elementary School in St. Louis Park, fell when a waterlogged cliff in the park collapsed as their class conducted a fossil hunt last May.
