Two passengers aboard a US Airways flight bound for Phoenix jumped into action on Tuesday when a baby stopped breathing.
Flight 678 was traveling from Tampa International Airport to Phoenix Sky Harbor when near Houston the baby stopped breathing and turned purple, a local Fox affiliate reported. Two passengers with medical training rushed to help.
“I saw a gentleman rushing towards the front, they needed help and we were told a baby was in distress,” said a woman on the flight.
Pilots prepared for an emergency landing in Houston as rescue efforts continued. Their work paid off when the baby finally responded.
“Everyone was invested and we heard the baby cry, it was just … it was a teary moment for everyone,” a passenger told the station.
The flight arrived in Phoenix about an hour late. US Airways has not released any information about the passenger.
There’s no word on the baby’s condition.
