MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The Star Tribune has named Suki Dardarian senior managing editor and vice president.

Dardarian succeeds Rene Sanchez, who held the position until he was named executive editor in October. The Minneapolis-based newspaper made the announcement Wednesday.

Dardarian joins the Star Tribune after a 14-year career at The Seattle Times. During her four years as managing editor, The Seattle Times won a 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News for its coverage of the killings of four police officers and the search for their killer.

Dardarian then spent two years overseeing seattletimes.com. Since last fall she also has worked as the company’s top strategist on audience development, digital innovation and community engagement.

Dardarian also is a past president of the Associated Press Managing Editors. She starts her new job April 21.
