PUEBLO, Colo. (AP) - Executives are seeking to fill 250 more jobs ahead of next year’s launch of the Pueblo Chemical Depot weapons destruction plant.
The Pueblo Chieftain reported Wednesday (https://bit.ly/1gq5lpq) that the current round of hiring involves jobs in ordnance, waste handling, transportation and laundry.
More hiring is planned this year for a total of 1,200 workers.
The Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant is designed to destroy the U.S. mustard agent stockpile in southeastern Colorado. Weapons have been stored at the U.S. Army’s Pueblo depot since the 1950s.
Brian Arrington is the human resources manager for the Bechtel Pueblo Team that is overseeing the destruction plant. He says managers are trying to hire locally.
