Conservatives have heaped criticism on President Obama for his recent interview with Funny or Die’s “Between Two Ferns,” and Fox News host Bill O’Reilly was no exception.
“The Affordable [Care] Act is dubious to say the least, and using a comedic website to enroll people is a little bit desperate, don’t you think?” he said on his show Tuesday. “There comes a point when serious times call for serious action.”
But “Between Two Ferns” director Scott Aukerman shot back, arguing that he doesn’t see a difference between his show and O’Reilly’s.
“Bill O’Reilly is used to saying kind of stupid things to get attention. There’s not much of a difference between the president appearing on ’Between Two Ferns’ and appearing on ’The O’Reilly Factor’,” he told Slate. “The difference is that we admit we’re a comedy show.”
Mr. Aukerman also responded to criticism that the president should be focused on more pressing issues, like Ukraine or Benghazi.
“I’m certain the president is not slacking off during the day,” Mr. Aukerman said. “This is very important, trying to get the people who watch these videos involved in the Affordable Care Act. He has time to talk to young people about what they were doing.”
