WATERVILLE, Maine (AP) - Waterville police have charged a homeless man with breaking into a local business and stealing thousands of dollars’ worth of cards used in a popular fantasy role-playing game.

Police say 27-year-old Robert White was found Sunday with the stolen merchandise at his encampment behind MaineGeneral Medical Center’s Thayer Center for Health.

Authorities say he stole about $20,000 worth of merchandise from the store Spell Bound, including a laptop and boxes of cards for the fantasy trading card game “Magic: The Gathering.”

Police tell the Morning Sentinel (https://bit.ly/1i2JvvP ) a brick was thrown through the glass door, allowing access.

Police recovered most of the stolen property and most of the cards were still wrapped.

White is due in court May 13. It could not be determined if he had a lawyer.
