Hoping to reach a key Obamacare demographic, President Obama took his humorous side to a new level in a sit-down interview with Zach Galifianakis, a comedic actor who hosts the cable-access spoof show on the website Funny or Die.
After a little banter in which Mr. Obama asked the host if he felt bad that he couldn’t eat the turkey the president pardoned last year, and in which Mr. Galifianakis said he would make same-sex divorce illegal to “then see how bad they want it,” Mr. Obama plugged the Affordable Care Act and its new insurance options on HealthCare.gov.
“Have you heard of the Affordable Care Act?” Mr. Obama asked.
“Oh yeah, I heard about that, that’s the thing that doesn’t work. Why would you get the guy that created the Zune to make your website?” the host replied, referring to a failed suite of Microsoft media services.
Mr. Obama said the website “works great” now, and young people need to get covered because they’re not “invincible.”
“Did you say invisible? Because I just think thats, ah, that’s impossible,” Mr. Galifianakis said.
Mr. Obama assured people they could use the computer or their phone to get covered. He also told the host to get checked out for what Mr. Galifianakis described as spider bites up and down his arm.
“That’s one of the most disgusting things I’ve ever seen,” Mr. Obama said.
