NEW YORK (AP) - A state Supreme Court judge in Manhattan has dismissed a lawsuit against the state Assembly that was filed by former employees of disgraced ex-politician Vito Lopez.

The Daily News reports (https://nydn.us/PpuZor ) that Judge Joan Kenney dismissed the lawsuit Tuesday. The former employees say Lopez sexually harassed them when they worked for him in 2012, and that the state Assembly was liable as their employer.

The judge ruled the state Assembly was not their employer, as none of the other members could have hired or fired them. The court says there was no evidence that other lawmakers “aided or abetted” Lopez.

Lopez has denied he harassed anyone. He resigned in 2013.

The women’s suit in federal court is still pending.
