SAN DIEGO (AP) - A man who hopped a security fence and spent several hours atop an office building at San Diego’s FBI headquarters has been charged with destruction of government property.

The FBI says 36-year-old Richard William Durant of Lakeside was charged Monday.

Durant was arrested Sunday, six hours after he arrived alone at FBI headquarters and climbed over a security gate.

A SWAT team responded after Durant tried to get in through the main entrance.

The FBI says he walked through the grounds and broke a door handle, shattered a car window and damaged a security camera. He eventually got to the rooftop of an annex building, where he set a small fire.

Investigators are still unsure of his motives.
