BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - State fishery managers want anglers who fish on the Genesee River in Allegany and Wyoming counties to keep diaries.

The state Department of Environmental Conservation’s Region 9 Fisheries Office in Buffalo is running the angler diary program through Oct. 31. It aims to record dates for trout and bass fishing trips on the Genesee River from the Pennsylvania line downstream through Letchworth State Park.

Regional Director Abby Snyder says it’s an opportunity for anglers to contribute observations and help shape future fishery management actions.

If you fish the Genesee River even once, you can contribute your observations by keeping a fishing diary for DEC. To participate, call the Region 9 Fisheries Office (716-372-0645) or e-mail them at fwfish9@gw.dec.state.ny.us.
